Triple Threat Independent Film Project – Summer 2022
Triple Threat Academy’s Independent Film Project (3T IFP) brings Hollywood to Westport, giving a small group of participants the opportunity to experience making an independent short film. During this two-week program, students learn all aspects of filmmaking, both acting in front of the camera and apprenticing in various roles behind the camera with a professional crew. Each cast member will receive professional footage for their acting reel.
WE ONLY HAVE CREW POSITIONS OPEN AT THIS TIME. MAIN ACTOR ROLES ARE FILLED BUT THOSE INTERESTED WILL APPEAR AS BACKGROUND ACTORS AND BE AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE FILMMAKING PROCESS. THIS IS A GREAT WAY TO LEARN THE ROPES BEFORE JOINING THE MAIN CAST IN 2023.
Interested in directing, shooting, producing than acting? Participants who prefer to stay behind the camera are eligible for this drastically discounted fee of $575 for the two-week program and may join pre-production meetings in July, furthering the experience and knowledge they will gain in their apprenticeship roles.
During the first week, students will learn screenwriting techniques and have input in fine tuning the professionally written script; learn about storyboarding and creating shot lists; assist with location scouting; learn how to read a call sheet; do extensive character development and rehearsals with director Cynthia Gibb; conceive looks and gather costumes, props, hair and makeup items; and benefit from an illustrious line-up of guest speakers running workshops each day: screenwriter Gigi New (HBO's The Garcias), producer Andrew Wilk (the multi Emmy-winning executive producer of Live from Lincoln Center and Stars on Stage series for PBS, who also launched all Nat Geo programming and was formerly Sony Music COO), a professional makeup artist, and our very own Golden-Globe nominated actress Cynthia Gibb (Fame, Gypsy, Youngblood) + input from short film cast members Jamie Mann (Netflix's Country Comfort), Cameron Mann (Mare of Easttown, For Life, New Amsterdam, Daredevil), and Natalia Mann (A California Christmas, City Lights, The Passage) on what it's like to be a professional child/teen actor. Participants will also tour Sacred Heart's impressive filmmaking facilities (sound stage, live TV studio, green room, state-of-the-art editing lab, and more)—only rivaled by Hollywood studios!
During the second week, we will be shooting the short film Monday through Thursday, with Friday as a rain date and likely shoot day, followed by a cast party Friday night. The final film will be screened at a local theater in fall of 2022, and/or—fingers crossed—at area film fests!
