Acting for Middle Schoolers – Sat 11 to 1* – Spring 2019
Students will be assigned scenes and work through different stages of rehearsal, with emphasis on investigating the use of the self, what you’re “right” for, and how to “stay with” yourself throughout the entirety of the scene. Learning that once you find your “own truth,” you can begin to bring it into the character. Through this process the students will learn to break down a scene organically, moving “beat to beat” through the given circumstances, understanding fully what it is for the event of the scene to occur “for real for real,” and putting their own unique take on the role. Students will also be assigned scenes from TV or Film, which they will put on tape during the class to develop and refine on-camera acting and auditioning skills.
This class will be taught by Brian Carter, a successful working actor!
*We understand life gets busy at times. If you can only attend for an hour, need to leave early, or will miss class, please notify Brian at least 2 hours before class time so that he can adjust scene work accordingly.
