LUX FREER Private Screening
Please consider a $10/guest donation to support Triple Threat Academy's Independent Film Project (IFP) program.
Creating films of this caliber requires talent, dedication, and a whole lot of money! We are fortunate to have a cast and crew that are gushing with the first two and we hope to provide them and other students more opportunities to make movie magic, spread important social messages, and enjoy screenings and film festival wins in the future. We would also like to enable less fortunate teens to attend future screenings as well and establish more scholarship opportunities within our program.
We are thrilled with the lightning fast start out of the gate for LUX FREER on the film fest circuit! We made the cut for Indie Short Fest (L.A.); won Best Film USA and Best First-Time Director for NY Cinematography Awards for December; and were selected for Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival in L.A., where Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Manchester by the Sea premiered! Other notable Hollywood Reel alumni include: Werner Herzog, Ron Howard, Michael Apted, James Franco, James Caan, Paul Rudd, Guy Pierce, Mercedes Ruehl, Sandra Oh, Lisa Kudrow, Jason Alexander, Bryce Dallas Howard, Elliott Gould, Janeane Garofalo, David Arquette, C. Thomas Howell, Dean Cameron, and Daryl Hannah.
Our next agenda will be to put aside the red carpets and work on getting our film into educational settings and youth centers where our message can both validate the concerns and emotions of LGBTQ teens and raise awareness and tolerance among teens in general.

More about Triple Threat's Independent Film Project (3T IFP)

During the first week, students learn screenwriting techniques and have input in fine tuning the professionally written script; learn about creating shot lists; learn how to read a call sheet; do extensive character development and rehearsals with director Cynthia Gibb; conceive looks and gather costumes, props, hair and makeup items; and benefit from an illustrious line-up of guest speakers running workshops each day. Last summer's guests included: L.A. screenwriter Michael Jamin (Just Shoot Me, Beavis & Butthead, King of the Hill), Andrew Wilk (Multi Emmy-winning producer and director of Live from Lincoln Center and Stars on Stage series for PBS, launched all Nat Geo programming, former Sony Music COO), our very own Golden-Globe nominated actress Cynthia Gibb (Fame, Gypsy, Youngblood), makeup artist Kathleen Fillion, and our tireless Assistant Director and filmmaker in her own right: Allie O'Brien.

During the second week, shooting takes place Monday through Friday, followed by a cast party. (We follow a typical 12-hour work day during the shoot week, with crew call at 8 am; actors are usually not called that early but in our experience everyone is excited to be with us as many hours as possible!). We can't wait to see what we all create together in 2023!
