Monologue Workshop - Jan 13 – Age 14 & Up
Monologue Prep Workshop – Saturday 1/13/18, 4 – 6 PM
As a young actor you are required to have at least one or two serious and/or comedic contemporary monologues at the ready when auditioning. It is also a great way to stretch your acting muscles for scene work as you learn to carry/hold moments throughout the duration of your monologue.
In this workshop, we will discuss/work on: techniques to help you relax in the room by taking emphasis off yourself, and how to make clear and specific choices and develop a deeper connection to your material through a combination of imagination and your own personal experiences. These techniques will free you up to present your best “unique” self in the room.
Each student should bring a 1- to 2-minute monologue with them, or a couple choices if they are undecided. Each student will receive individual feedback on several run-throughs of their monologue, as well as benefit from the notes other students receive.
