TEEN CREW PROGRAM – AGES 13 TO 19
Triple Threat Academy’s Independent Film Project (3T IFP) brings Hollywood to Westport, giving a small group of participants the opportunity to experience making an independent short film. During this two-week program, students learn all aspects of filmmaking and apprentice in various roles behind the camera with a professional crew. Triple Threat's 2022 short film, "Lux Freer," is currently winning awards on the film fest circuit (including Best USA Film in NY's Cinematography Awards) and made its world premiere at Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival, where many Academy-Award-winning films have been discovered.

During the first week, crew members will learn about screenwriting and creating shot lists, scouting locations and set decorating, conceiving looks and gathering costumes and props, while also assisting with a myriad of production tasks. Crew members will also benefit from an illustrious line-up of guest speakers running workshops each day. Last year's guests included L.A. screenwriter Michael Jamin (King of the Hill, Just Shoot Me, Beavis & Butthead), producer Andrew Wilk (multi Emmy-winning executive producer—PBS's Live From Lincoln Center and Stars on Stage series, Nat Geo—and former COO of Sony Music), professional makeup artist Kathleen Fillion, and our very own Golden-Globe nominated actress Cynthia Gibb (Fame, Gypsy, Youngblood).

During the second week, we will shoot the short film, with our cast and crew members assisting our professional crew. On Friday night, we will celebrate an intense and exciting week with a cast and crew party Friday night. The final film will be screened at a local theater and on the film fest circuit!

Some crew members may join pre-production meetings in July, furthering the experience and knowledge they will gain in their apprenticeship roles.
