Acting and Improv Fundamentals (grades 3 – 5)

Students in this class will learn the joy of acting and fall in love with the stage! Theatre games and improv will form the basis for exploring the fundamentals of acting, from using the imagination to connecting with scene partners, listening, and focusing. Students will explore scene work as this class progresses and share their work with family and friends during the final class.

Tuesdays from 5 to 6 pm
12-week session: Sept 13, 20, 27; Oct 4, 11, 18, 25; Nov 1, (skip Nov 8), 15, (skip Nov 22), 29; Dec 6, 13
(Note: Nov 8 is a staff development day for Westport Public Schools. Should we have weather cancellations before this date, we may use it as a makeup day.)

Classes will be held at the beautiful Toquet Hall in downtown Westport: 
58 Post Rd E, Westport, CT (at the bottom of Main Street; you can enter from the alley on the Post Rd or through the more hidden alley on the library side next to the book store.)

Alexandra “Ali” Pearl received her B.F.A. in Acting from University of Connecticut. Various starring credits at Connecticut Repertory Theatre include Pericles: Prince of Tyre, Too Much Memory, Othello, Spring’s Awakening, Urinetown: The Musical (Starring Andrea McArdle), and Pride and Prejudice, for which she was awarded “Best Actress in a Play” by the Broadway World Connecticut Awards. New York City credits include the U.S. premiere of Project: Theater’s Unity: 1918, directed by K.J. Sanchez, as well as other works with Nylon Fusion Theatre Company, The Duo-Multicultural Arts Center, and The Hive Theatre Company. She was part of the genesis of Thrown Stone Theatre Company in Ridgefield, CT, starring in the U.S. premiere of Milk, and Where All Good Rabbits Go. She is a graduate of the True Acting Institute’s Teacher Certificate Program, under the instruction of Larry Silverberg, word-renowned Meisner Technique master teacher. She will be starring in the upcoming short film, The Siren, which she also wrote.
